Many dream of that peak Arctic experience - but very few have any idea what it's actually like. As you consider the possibility of embarking on your own expedition, and getting wildlife encounters of a lifetime, it's worth deepening your understanding of the adventures that await. What better way to do that than to speak to those who live and breath this dream on a daily basis? We asked our guides and crew members to share their perspective on Arctic experiences.

Question:

Q: What was your most memorable moment during a recent sail and ski trip in the Arctic, and why did it stand out?

A: There is something about seeing big majestic animals that doesn’t get old. It doesn’t matter if you see an elephant or a lion, or a shark 50 or 100 times, its always an amazing experience. Snorkelling with the orcas is just the same, the experience doesn’t get old.

Q: How does the small group size and multiday structure enhance the free diving with whales or ski and sail sessions from your perspective?

A: Having a small group heightens the experience for everybody. I am able to make sure everybody in the group can feel like they are getting the absolute best experience possible. This is not possible with big groups.

Q: As a crew member, what surprises you most about the Arctic environment during these trips, and how do you share that with guests?

A: The Arctic environment is raw. It gives you a feeling of out there roughness and wild. The icy winds, the freezing water, the massive mountains, the whales, it all plays into this epic picture.

Q: If you could describe the overall vibe of one of multiday expeditions in 5 words, what would they be, and can you explain why?

A: An experience of a lifetime. I say this because going on our expeditions definitely is. Its wild, cozy, eye opening, and makes you feel like you are on a real exploration.
